FORGET ME NOT BEARS
In
the year 1993 we met the four sisters, all talented bear artists, who
create the wonderful Forget me not bears.
Only one year earlier
Joy, the oldest but one, started to make teddy bears. Success was
soon to follow and Joy introduced her sisters Mary, Alice and Liz to
bear making.
Liz, the youngest, was the first to follow, even
though she never used a needle before.
She recently stopped making bears after her marriage.
Antique
bears are a great source of inspiration, sometimes with illustrious
examples from Steiff, but also inspired by cuddly old English
teddies.
Their
bears are carefully aged in order to give them the well loved and
antique look as if they are 100 years old that is so typical of
Forget me not bears. They have also created their own way of stuffing
a bear with a mix of materials that give the bears weight making
them very easy to pose and giving them a wonderful posture.
It is often hard not to mistake a Forget me not bear for an
antique (Steiff) bear but you can always identify them by their
weight, the sewn in label on the back and the forget me not flower
that is embroidered on the left foot.
Since 1993 we work together
and have one of a kind bears as well as special editions made for us.
