This extraordinary 30 cm, 12", blond Steiff bear is a tribute to the 19th century Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh.
Who does not know his famous painting of the Sunflowers.
Here he is pictured with the work of another Dutch artist.
With his painter's smock decorated with an embroidered sunflower and his name Vincent,
he is unmistakebly van Gogh with his red beard.

Holland Bear 2006, the Rembrandt Bear
In
2006 Holland celebrates the
400th birthday of the famous Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn who
painted the 'Nachtwacht' (the Night Watch), by far Holland's most
famous painting.
To commemorate this Steiff will dedicate this years Holland bear to
Rembrandt. The bear depicts one of the main characters of the
Nachtwacht.
The Steiff
Rembrandt Bear will be 30 cm, 12" tall and will be limited to 1500
pieces only. He will have a hand picked ostrich feather on his hat and
a silk sash around his chest with the text 'Rembrandt 400 years,
1606-2006'.
This bear will be
made for Holland in 2006 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of
Rembrandt van Rijn the most famous Dutch painter.
He comes with a fine lacquered small
wooden chest lined with red velvet with a music box playing Canon in
D-Dur by Johannes Pachelbel.

Cycle racing is important to Holland, Belgium and France, like herring to Holland, French Fries to Belgium and wine to France.
In July everyone is focused on the Tour de France.
The Tour had its premiere in 1903. Since 1936 the Dutch are involved.
We will never forget Jan Janssen (1968) and Joop Zoetemelk (1980) but also the world famous Eddie Merckx from Belgium and the American Lance Armstrong. They all won our love and respect in the Tour.
This year the Tour will start in Belgium. Reason for Steiff to design a bear reflecting the cycling event for these three countries. The blond bear is dressed in a yellow 'tricot' with number 1 on the back, with a pouch on the front that is adorned with the French, Belgian and Dutch flag as well as the text 'Tour de Steiff', containing a flask and below the shirt a pair of black cycling trousers. He is carrying a spare tyre across his shoulders as in the early days. He will undoubtedly make it to the finish of this Tour on his indestructible bike with a Steiff logo on the tyres, pump and saddlebag!
